It’s fascinating to see the different directions both the Alien and Predator series have taken. While last year’s Alien: Romulus succeed by taking the series back to the roots of the first two Alien movies, the Predator franchise has been taking huge swings in uncharted territory to astounding success. Alongside Prey, Predator: Killer of Killers proves that the glory days of Predator are far from over, they’re just getting started.

The latest installment in the long-running sci-fi horror series, Killer of Killers takes a refreshing turn by delivering a stunning animated entry. Masterfully blending the fear-inducing atmosphere with dazzling animated sequences, the latest Predator movie continues the trend of remarkable animated projects such as Spider-Verse movies, Arcane, and Cyberpunk: Edgerunners. A gory feast of violence, lore, and cinematic visuals, Killer of Killers makes a compelling case for being the best installment in the iconic franchise.
In many ways, Killer of Killers is a much-needed departure, especially considering the critical and commercial reception of 2018’s The Predator. Narrartively, the movie takes a different approach in structuring its story. By taking an anthological approach, the animated film is able to take advantage of a more diverse range of settings, characters, and even predators. Weaving the three distinct stories effortlessly, the animated film culminates in an explosive final act that’s riveting to watch. While it doesn’t quite reinvent the genre, Predator: Killer of Killers delivers enough to keep the audiences wanting more.

With tremendous worldbuilding, the animated film sets up a solid foundation to build upon should the series decides to explore. Following the tremendous success of Prey, director Dan Trachtenberg has proven once again that under the right direction, even a long-standing franchise like Predator can produce a refreshingly original project. With Predator: Badlands just around the corner, we’re eager to see whether Trachtenberg will go three for three in what is an amazing run is already.
